Q: Ižve had a consultant contacting me in reference to getting a practice analysis. I spoke to him for an hour on the phone and he offered me a consultation and practice analysis for $600.00. and then offered me a program for as much as $22,500. Yes dollars for whatever you need. What do ya think? However , he did state that I lacked a good handling of the dealing with staff members. I agree. It seemed as if I tend to harass a staff member until they tell me why they keep making a mistake, or why they can't tell me what the problems are I guess that is true about me. I just get very frustrated when dealing with someone who won't answer me honestly or just plain won't adhere to our agreements. She just will make agreements, like how to answer the phone properly and then answers it any old way she wants to. It just gets to be tough. hey what do you think A: The problem with your office including staff is YOU. This is not a put down .. but in all reality your entire practice and life is a reflection of you. You (meaning all of us you's) create the setting from the beginning by hiring and then by training then by maintenance of the practice. Up or down .. a reflection of you .. not the staff or office location. If you are lazy .. if you are weak to follow through .. if you have fears of rejection and cannot confront the patients and practice .. including staff .. the reflection will be a practice that even $22,000 of outrageous fees will not help. If you plan to follow through with some type of consulting you must decide what and where you plan to implement the ideas. It will probably take staff changes .. retraining .. maybe rehiring .. but this is the level of decisions you must make .. will you follow through and will you implement. You personally need hands on consulting. For example .. and this is not an endorsement. the average consultant charges $7-8000 a year. This includes seminars and some consulting. Again .. will your staff go with you to the seminars and will you be sure they'll follow through with the ideas .. probably not if they lost confidence in you or you have not held them accountable before .. will you make the necessary changes .. it's all up to YOU!
