Arno Burnier's Master Piece Training Camp .. E-mail message this week: Changes One the most difficult human tracts to change is change. Think about it .. we get accustomed to the way things are and to make a change is usually a far reach. Obviously .. some changes must be made as we adapt to our environment and societal responsibilities but once we've created social and professional habits .. changes are hard to make. A recent question e-mailed to me and my reply stimulated this topic as the DC .. who is probably reading this now .. replied back and thanked me for my answer but stated that he was too set in his ways to make a change. How many times have we heard or said this before. I was also reading in the Atlanta Business Chronicle an article by one of their contributors titled: „Guaranteed failure in the 21st Century: Stay putū In other words .. donžt change .. donžt adapt .. donžt focus on tomorrow .. just stay put. (If you wish to read this article and others by Jeffrey Gitomer .. visit his webpage: http://www.gitomer.com). Accepting the status quo is not good enough .. excepting that we must always review and tweak changes is a necessity in our present healthcare environment and society as a whole. I would expect that every DC with a few years under his/her belt has either heard of or personally experienced the need to change staff. We may have staff that are so set in their ways that any additional enthusiasm or idea you bring from a seminar is a mere waste of time. Likewise .. staff may have the opposite thought. They may also attend a seminar and leave all juiced up to make changes Monday morning only to be stifled by the doctors inability to change. Something has to give. During our schooling we reviewed the normal EKG graph. It has an high peak and a low peak and a smooth middle. This is probably one area wežd like not to change .. but if the line remains smooth for any length of time .. the only reason would be death. The emergency room unitžs rush to resuscitate and shock the heart may be a valiant attempt to jump start a dead body but changes had to be made earlier to affect the change of the moment. Give this some thought. Review your professional and personal life .. sense the immediate wish list of hopeful changes and drop down a level and visualize some changes there as well. To affect a change we must build upon a strong foundation. Fasting to lose weight without other lifestyle changes wonžt work. Firing staff without firing some of your antiquated and unchanging ideas wonžt work either. Change comes from review .. action .. review and action again. Change is good .. give this some thought it might be a change. Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Gainesville,Ga. 500sq/ft office fully equipped ready to go! Everything you need is here.
