Q: Dear Dr. M, I truly appreciate your hard work in getting out so many positive messages to the chiropractors of the world - myself included - I am currently facing a difficult situation - I have hired a new CA and am having a hard time educating her on chiropractic - the subluxation based model - she understands the back ache and pain management part - not the health and wellness part. Anyway, I am looking for some good suggestions or seminars to help her to understand or to help me teach it to her better - she is the first contact in the office and if things do not improve, I may have to let her go - I feel she could be a great asset if I can only get the message across to her - help!!! A: Thanks for your e-mail and question. There are a number of resources to educate both patients and staff the subluxation complex therefore assisting in a subluxation based clinic. I will post your request for education material and suspect you will get a number of replies. Dr. Terry Rondberg has a number of books including his wife's CA book which is highly subluxation based and questions the medical model. You can get in touch with them at: 1- 800-347-1011 or visit their webpage at: www.chiropage.com. Also New Beginnings has great seminars in New Jersey. Visit them at: http://www.newbeginningschiro.com. I e- mailed your question to them and hopefully they will place you on their e-mail chat room .. very subluxation based. Also visit Chiropractic America at: http://www.chirousa.com Slowly feed you CA information about the reality of the subluxation .. the fact that the majority of the nervous system is functional based not sensory therefore to truly provide "preventive" care we must reduce pressure to the nervous system as it exits the vulnerable spinal segments. Use simple analogies .. dimmer switches for nerve root pressure etc. I recommend you purchase my Smart Start Book and have her read some of the consultation and report of findings material I want DC's to read. If you wish a subluxation based clinic you need a team player .. if she remains aloof .. she must get the boot.
