Chiropractic Assistance I am taking a well deserved vacation to Israel and Rome and therefore am sending an early copy of this week's e-mail. I'll be back in the office on the 28th. I always have a grand time speaking to chiropractic assistants. I love speaking to the staff of seminar and client doctors during Dr. Pete Fernandez seminars in Atlanta. The CA's are great and they are anxious to learn and help their doctors. These are the grunts behind the counter or assisting patients with the compassion and understanding that sustains our patient base. Every great manager has a cadre of great staff behind him or her. If you have a great team behind you .. you'll find your practice moving in the right direction. Implementing internal referral procedures or patient appreciation programs will be met with enthusiasm and a willingness to make it happen. Don't overlook your team .. praise them often and educate them to the nuances that made you a chiropractor. I like most discussing the relevancy of our honored profession since many of them have a keen interest in learning more. It doesn't take much to draw their interest .. they .. like us .. yearn to complete any knowledge gap. Why does a PI patient need our special and at times more attention .. why do patients require acknowledgement when improvement is evident .. why should patients feel obligated to share the story of chiropractic with family and friends .. why does the CA have to keep you informed when the patient begins to lose the excitement of their initial phase of care and most important, why would a chiropractic patient wish to return for supportive or maintenance care without symptoms? Why should you be aware that once staff mundancity begins redundancy follows resulting in complacency. Once it begins the spiral begins. Keep the excitement real with education and appreciation.
