From: Dr. Margolies I影e been asked a number of times where I find the time to write these weekly e-mails and what I get out of it. Well .. time is precious for everyone .. but I enjoy writing and each e- mail is a reminder to myself of what I need to do .. they force me to think as I hope they do you. But more important are the e-mail replies I receive. I get a few souls that wish to be deleted from the list and if you desire to be deleted all you have to do is ask. But more often .. I receive e-mails of thanks with a list of others you request I place on board .. I always encourage you to forward my e-mails to other DC廣 or better yet .. send me your chiropractic e-mail address list and I幢l send these fine folks a welcome e-mail .. this is how my list grows. You may also wish to publish my e-mail address in your state association bulletins and/or school newspapers. Furthermore .. assisting a new doctor get established or helping an established practice rejuvenate their clinic with creative ideas is worth all the energy it takes to provide this service. For instance .. at the conclusion of this week廣 message are two recent e-mails sent to me. One is from a former student廣 practicing in New England another from a DC in England. Both have all the skills necessary to be a huge success as they have try hard to establish a new clinic. They never looked back .. never doubted their ability or resolve and came from behind creating a winning program .. one that can be duplicated time and time again. The same can be said for you. Also .. visit my webpage: http://www.mindspring.com/~chirosmart and search under cyberconsulting for an interesting discussion concerning buying an existing practice. There is much to explore here .. believe me .. I don廠 have all the answers. Therefore .. if you have any formulas or ideas to share and add please send them to me so I can include it on my webpage so others will benefit. Also, I影e added a number of health related articles and issues from various newsletters I影e received, including Today廣 Health and Dr. Gerry Clum廣 newsletter from LifeWest. This is full of pertinent health issues that you can include in your patient and community newsletters. You幢l find this and other newsletters under Newsletters. E-mail message today: Coming from Behind A few weekends ago .. I was listening on the radio our Atlanta Braves defeating the San Diego Padres. At first .. I heard the score was 3-0 San Diego in the seventh inning and the Braves just went down with their third out. My initial programmed mind said the game was over and there was no way they could come from behind .. but low and behold .. the following inning they loaded the bases. With two outs and our third baseman Chipper Jones at the plate he hit a grand slam taking the lead and eventually winning the game. It happens in sports all the time and usually when you least expect it .. the same is true with us .. with our practices .. with our profession and community health awareness. We always have the ability to come from behind. I影e listened to many new graduates and those just ready to take the leap feel down and out. They are fearful of an uncharted future and concerned they invested their best years to a profession that needs to come from behind. But this is far from true .. in fact we are at the pinnacle of a national wave of health and wellness awareness that channeled to your office will take you to the forefront of success and fulfillment. Think about it .. has there ever been in the history of our planet a time when people are surfing the web for alternative healthcare .. probably over 2000 websites? Has there ever been a time in the history of modern healthcare when the average consumer has questioned the authority of their physicians .. reaching for alternatives to medication .. searching for health spas .. bottled water .. soft tissue therapy .. meditation and relaxation? Chiropractors by default are guardians of the spine .. biomechanics. The medics research the same material we do .. they dissect the same cadavers .. they read the journals .. but their allopathic approach to health care is symptom based .. inductive in reasoning .. chemical and surgery driven. For crisis care they excel .. for preventive and wellness they leave much to be desired. We have been given this role. When that next patient comes in .. when you speak before your next group .. when you mention you are a chiropractor within your social circles .. stimulate the desire in others to reach for innate solutions .. stick to the basics of the subluxation .. the mechanics of structural function loss .. progressive instability of spinal and paraspinal joint disrelationships .. loss of visceral function besides what they perceive as sensory inhibition or stimulation only .. the chiropractic role in stability .. rehabilitation .. health maintenance and wellness into the 21st century. Who else .. besides the chiropractor has focused their professional energy to a segment of anatomy that houses and supports the link to survival? Who else besides the chiropractor has the role to assist the body in adaptation to its environment with homeostasis .. bioecology .. bioengineering .. biomechanics? This goes beyond the dictates of ACA .. ICA .. FSCO .. WCA .. or whatever alphabet soup you digest .. this is the crucial link to your community and you. So .. the next time you feel you must come from behind .. remember the baseball game .. and that time worn advice .. it ain廠 over till it廣 over. We chiropractors have just begun .. it took us over 100 years .. your community is ready for you .. just let them know who you are. Dr. M Now the e-mail letters I影e received this last week .. This is what it廣 all about!!!! By the way .. I always appreciate your feedback and enjoy reading your e-mails. If you need a quick answer to a question .. I usually answer the same day. Just wanted to let you know what I have been doing and if you want to publish this you certainly have my permission. I began calling all the senior centers in my area and asking if I could do a two part series on Aging Gracefully. These seminars have been a huge success. Anywhere from 10-30 seniors will show up and keep me there from 2-3 hours asking me to look at them and asking me some of the most pointed questions ever. I have been written up in the paper twice, with these one paragraph blurps getting me more publicity than all my advertising. Patients seem to be coming in from these talks every time I do one. I just wanted to let you know that I followed the advice in your book, as well as your e-mails, and didn't take no for an answer. Practice has never been this much fun. Thanks for the guidance and motivation and staying in the zone. Also from England: I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your help a few months back when you sent me some info on PI work and dealing with lawyers. As you know I am in the UK and have just opened my new clinic and am pleased to say am doing very well. We did our homework on our location, signage, marketing etc. I am half way through week 3. Week one I saw 17 patient visits ,week two a little over 20 and half way through week 3 we should hit just shy of 30. all, I am pleased to say are 100% cash paying patients. We only need to see 14 a week to pay the business overhead so life is very good. Hope all is well, I don't want to burn up your valuable time but wanted to say thanks for your help and keep up the e-mails. They are much appreciated. All the best
