Q: I have some questions about hiring a chiropractor for a second practice location. A: Thanks for your e-mail. I never charge for advice via the internet and further do not consult for a fee. If you are looking to add an associate for a satellite clinic then contracts have to be drawn .. salaries have to be agreed upon .. non compete clauses if legal and agreede by both parties should be entertained and the rest is up to the energy of the associate. As far as contracts there are many versions but all should protect the owner DC. I do not have associates and have no contracts to share with you. If you wish I can post your desire to obtain an associate contract and possibly other DC's will reply. You most decide if this new clinic or your own clinic can sustain an associate and if it will be cost effective. Crunch the numbers to determine if the expense of equipment .. staff .. promotion and salary is worth the effort. Many successful DC's go financially in the tank when the bite off more than they can chew and get greedy deciding to open satellite clinics and double the overhead and headaches. If you can do this and the numbers pan out then go for it. Also .. have you determined where the base of new patients will be coming from and how you intend to attract them to your office. The people may be out there but the associate has to be enlightened and high energy enough to create and sustain the practice. This is the best I can do with your general question .. if you can focus your questions on specific areas of concern I will do my best to assist you. Also take advantage of the mentors found on my webpage. I would write your questions and bcc them to a number of the mentors .. be sure to mention that you learned about them from my webpage so they understand they will share with you for free. We are all here to help
