Accumulate and Profit I know Greg Stanley of Whitehall Management for many years. I sponsored his first large seminar in Atlanta and hosted him for many more. We became friends. If there is one person that helped salvage many DC廣 from almost bankruptcy or foolish spending it was Greg. He is not a chiropractor but an accountant working within the world of chiropractic helping thousands of doctors getting their act together and creating a smooth and carefree office. Although he is unable to provide an adjustment he knows as much about the business of chiropractic as anyone. Though this may sound lofty and unheard of .. practice should be fun and the mantra should be to accumulate wealth and profit from your work. Don廠 be deceived by the multi-clinic practices or the offices with huge numbers and an even larger overhead. Don廠 be envious of the multi doctor clinics with an even larger staff and advertising costs that would chock an elephant. Our profession is inundated with embellished statistics and stressed doctors. We talk the talk about stress free life but many of us cannot walk the walk. Overall we are physically .. emotionally and financially drained. Have I reached anyone yet? I write this on April 15th the dreaded income tax day. I think it is about this time of year that we begin to work for ourselves. Prior weeks we were strictly an employee of Uncle Sam squirreling caches of cash for this payday .. April 15th. Accumulate and Profit .. what a concept. Large is great but rich is greater. We all know doctors who lack business sense and their financial spreadsheets prove it. They run after the newest scheme to generate patients or purchase equipment with little passion or understanding of it. They are ripe for the picking by marketing sales and often overstock their office with staff. At the end of the day there may be money in the bank but after expenses are paid and debt accumulates there is little or nothing left. Does this ring a bell? My weekly e-mail is a chance for me to rant and rave about this or that and there is nothing as bothersome as paying taxes. Death and taxes is constant. As chiropractors we encourage quality of life allowing every patient the opportunity to live at their peak performance making and keeping enough of our earnings to pay the piper and smoke a pipe or two as well. Are you? Doc .. I wish I had some answers for those that will reply thanking me for outlining their plight. Simply it廣 all a matter of style. How do you want to practice? Vendors are aplenty and with great stuff. If it fits your personality and you can determine there is a need and it would be cost effective then go for it but use it and prosper by it. We are healers. We search for answers and the toys we use should help by either assisting us with the proper diagnosis .. treatment or patient education. But toys can be expensive and useless if it becomes a financial burden and worse not used. When all is said and done can you say you are accumulating and profiting from your hard work.
